Flyaways, baby hairs, you name it: lots of people struggle with pesky frizz. But not to worry, these tips and tricks will take care of that frustrating frizz!
We’ve all heard about the miracles of keratin treatments, but they can be pricey. Senior biological sciences major Joanie Burzymowska has an effective (and cheaper!) idea.
“If you have frizz or baby hairs around your face, you can spray hairspray on a toothbrush and brush it into your hair to smooth everything down,” Burzymowska said.
Sophomore government and politics major Siya Malhotra has a different idea.
“After shampooing my hair, I sometimes apply a few drops of argan oil and run it through wet hair so it tames hair from frizzing up after it’s dry. It also makes my hair shiny,” Malhotra said.
According to Healthline Magazine, argan oil can be used to moisturize hair and “some research indicates the fatty acids in argan oil may support healthy, hydrated skin and reduce hair damage.”
Jen Blevins has been styling hair for 28 years, and now runs her own salon out of her home.
“Try not to scrub your hair with a towel because it will rough up the cuticle surface,” Blevins said.
Blevins added that you should wait until your hair is 90% dry to use a hairdryer and to use a cooler setting for best results when it comes to minimizing frizz.
For those who don’t like to use heat on their hair, some great finds for combating frizz can be found at CVS! OGX Renewing argan oil is less than $10 and is also sold by Ulta.
According to Health.com, Rob Talty, a celebrity hairstylist for clients like Katy Perry, swears by the Eucerin brand healing ointment Aquaphor. He said he rubs the cream over his hands and then dusts the tips of the hair with his palms. Aquaphor can be purchased at CVS or Target for less than $10.
Free People also has some great at-home remedies for frizzy hair. Among the top few are an apple cider vinegar rinse, a raw egg and olive oil mixture, and an avocado and olive oil hair mask! Check them out here.
Everyone’s hair is different, so finding what works best for you is important. Hopefully some of these tips help you defeat your frizz!
