Style Spotlight: Margo Sybert
Whether it’s running to class or getting ready for a night out with the girls, Margo Sybert, a junior at the University of Maryland, knows how to dress to impress. Influenced by Vanessa Hudgens’ boho style and Kendall Jenner’s sleek, dark look, Sybert described her style as “a mix of hippie, boho, contemporary and unique.”
Sybert praised stores like Forever 21 and Garage for their different trendy and budget-friendly options. She loves looking in small boutiques and surf shops, especially the “Chic Boutique” in Ocean City, Maryland, where she spends her summers.

Loving the new vintage trends, like bigger, round wired glasses, Sybert also particularly likes the 90s-era style, which she described as, “Nike air force one’s, vans, oversized t-shirts, damaged jeans and cute crop tops.” She makes a bold statement with her jewelry, often wearing hoops or big earrings from Target or Spencer’s and stacking her fingers with rings from Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe.
Sybert’s style depends on the events she has that day. A going-to-class look remains simple, with hair down in a middle part, an oversized graphic t-shirt or crew neck and vans. Her style can be compared to that of an inspiration of hers, Kendall Jenner, who says she likes a daily look that is, “simple, clean,” but doesn’t “like anything too crazy.”

For tailgates, Sybert creates her own pieces by cutting University of Maryland t-shirts, adding zippers and lace, and pairing them with red converse and patterned pants, a skirt or a pair of overalls.

For a night out with friends in College Park, she enjoys making a statement with jewelry and pants. She’ll pair a tube top or cropped shirt with fun colored pants or stylish boyfriend jeans, adding big earrings and rings to complete the look.
In line with the boho side of her style, when going to brunch, Sybert dresses up in a chic skirt “with a boho flowy long sleeve shirt that’s appropriate but fun, and a long necklace,” she said.

To stay up to date with the latest trends, Sybert said she finds herself turning to what’s going on around her and finds inspiration in her fellow peers’ outfits and Instagram accounts. She is constantly browsing online and seeks to stay on top of what’s new in stock. She takes advantage of the vintage, old school trends that are coming back into style.
According to E! News, varsity sweaters are a trend that is subtly climbing in the ranks. They are becoming more popular as celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, are seen wearing the look. Be a trendsetter and don’t miss out on this up-and-coming fashion statement.
