Jet-Setter
With the upcoming holidays, copious amounts of people will travel to visit family or go on vacation. With traveling comes the thought of, “how am I going to keep my makeup lasting all day?” and “what do I even bring with me?” Traveling itself can be a difficult task, and the last thing you need is for airport security to make your life worse by saying you can’t bring your favorite perfume or setting spray, or that you brought too many liquid foundations.
After reflecting on what I keep in my purse while traveling and what others bring with them as well, what they consider their “ride or die” products, there is a consensus on what people tend to bring.
Refreshers
Anyone who has been on an extended car ride, flight, etc., knows the pain of your skin feeling extremely oily or dry after a couple hours. In order to refresh your skin, blotting papers can help significantly. These cheap, almost see-through papers can blot the oils from your skin, and take away the cakey shine that appears after a few hours. The best part is, you don’t need a mirror, and the papers can actually set your foundation back into place as well. You can find these papers for only a couple dollars at CVS, ULTA, and other places that sell basic beauty products.
Another great way to refresh your makeup is with makeup refreshing sprays. Like setting sprays, these will not only help your makeup last for a long time, but will help to refresh your dried-out skin from being in a cramped space for so long, especially in airplanes where the air is often not the best. A great spray that will hydrate your skin and lock your makeup in place is the Makeup Forever Mist & Fix spray. Not to mention, it’s only 1.01 oz., so it’s perfectly travel friendly!
The Makeup
When you travel, you just want to bring your basic essentials so your makeup doesn’t take up too much room in your bag, so it’s best just to take the items you use every day. Personally, I take my holy grail mascara, foundation, concealer, bronzer, highlight, and eyeshadow. However, combined palettes that have multiple parts in them can help decrease the amount of product you take. For example, there are palettes that have bronzers, blush, and highlight all in a small compact.
This idea of having palettes with multiple makeup products in them has grown exponentially in the beauty community because of how easy they are to travel with. Model Gigi Hadid actually just came out with her own travel-friendly makeup line with Maybelline, including a palette with most essential beauty products. Maybelline states, “the palette includes two concealers, two lip balms, four eyeshadows, one blush, one matte bronzer, one highlighter, and a mini of our iconic Volum' Express The Colossal Mascara.” The small size of the palette compliments the amount of product in it, and it even comes with a mirror and mini-brushes as well to aid in the on-the-go process.
Another palette is one from Becca Cosmetics called the “Sunchaser” palette, which includes a bronzer, blush, and highlight. These types of duos and mixed palettes offer a lot of product in a small amount of space.
Those long, distressing trips can be made a lot easier with these few different beauty products, no matter your budget!
