As the temperature dips into freezing, our skin suffers as a consequence. We all know the feeling of walking outside and feeling the frigid winter whip against our face, realizing that our normal moisturizer isn’t going to cut it anymore. Below are a list of various facial moisturizers, masks, mists, and creams to keep your skin hydrated during these next cold months!
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion
First on the list is Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. It’s affordable and popular, and is not only for the face but also for the body! Who doesn’t love a two in one deal? This lotion is lightweight but hydrating, and it’s especially perfect for sensitive skin since it has no fragrance added. Cetaphil’s Moisturizing lotion has Vitamin E (an antioxidant) and Vitamin B5.
Isha Katyal, a bio-med freshman at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, uses this product as part of her skincare routine.
“I use Cetaphil moisturizer, and I also use the Neutrogena face mask. My skin gets particularly dry in the wintertime.” Katyal said.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Water Gel Face Moisturizer
This product’s bright blue packaging isn’t the only good thing about it. Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel Face Moisturizer contains Hyaluronic acid, which has been shown to reduce dry skin.
Katyal said this moisturizer leaves her face “[...] feeling fresh and almost like, silky.”
According to Neutrogena, “The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream” because of the hyaluronic acid.
Sephora Collection All Day Hydrator - Hydrate & Glow
Sephora’s Clean Collection of skincare comes with many things. One of them is a lovely water-based moisturizer. While I use the Hydrate & Glow product every day, it is a good choice for winter. The product glides on the skin easily, and after applying it, the skin feels fresh and ready to battle the chilling winds. Sephora offers this moisturizer at a standard 1.69 ounces and a mini 1.01 ounces, so this product is good for at-home and on-the-go use!
Sephora Purifying Face Mask: Rose (Cruelty-Free)
This face mask from the Sephora Collection made from natural rose extract is the perfect quick and easy face mask to apply during the wintertime. Sephora’s Rose face sheet mask works for all skin types and not only moisturizes but brightens as well. This is also perfect for finals week when you need to destress—they take around 15 minutes! This Sephora Collection product is also cruelty-free.
Pür Miracle Mist Hydrating Spray (Cruelty-Free)
Pür Miracle Mist Hydrating Spray feels like a luxury but costs only $18 compared to higher-end sprays. This mist is the equivalent of spraying a cool cloud onto your face. Pür’s product fits well after applying moisturizer when an extra layer of hydration is needed.
According to Ulta’s site, this spray contains “more than 70 essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids.” Pür is also cruelty-free.
Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Moisturizer (Cruelty-Free)
Gearing toward the higher end moisturizers, Drunk Elephant’s Protini™ Polypeptide Moisturizer is packed with an array of ingredients meant to help your skin.
The founder of Drunk Elephant, Tiffany Masterson, said in a blurb on the Sephora website: “Jam-packed with crazy levels of amino acids, signal peptides, and safe, synthetic growth factors (the good kind), this dreamy cream melts right into your skin to make it hydrated, bouncy, and balanced,” about this specific product. This moisturizer is also cruelty-free and certified Clean at Sephora meaning, it is “formulated without a list of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more,” according to Sephora’s website.
The Water Cream by Tatcha
Tatcha’s Water Cream is raved about by influencers and consumers alike. This oil-free and anti-aging moisturizer uses Japanese botanicals such as wild rose, leopard lily, hadasei-3, which is “an anti-aging trinity of green tea, rice, and algae.” Combined, Tatcha claims these materials provide “nutrient-rich, balanced hydration.” A bonus about purchasing from Tatcha is that they partner with Room to Read to help further girls’ education!
After reading through the list of various skincare products, hopefully, you now have some more options to choose from to keep your skin fresh and hydrated!
