5 Effortless Hairstyles for College Students

On some days, waking up before 11 a.m. can feel like enough of a struggle on its own, and worrying about hairstyles for class is the last thing on our minds. However, there are easy ways to look put together for class with little to no effort!

Hairstyle 1: Beachy Waves

For those with straight or wavy hair, this style is perfect for you! This is my personal go-to hairstyle for when I want to look put together with minimal effort. To achieve this style, simply apply a sea salt spray to damp hair and either blow dry or air dry. The sea salt spray will leave you with effortless tousled waves perfect for any casual look.

Stacy Lindsey, a Hair Artist from Body Wellness Salon and Spa, recommends this style for those looking for something that will last.

“This type of style can be worn and kept up over multiple days,” Lindsey said. “That’s something college students enjoy.”

Hairstyle 2: Ponytail

The ponytail is a classic hairstyle that can work with any hair type. Whether it’s a low, side or high ponytail, this style is undoubtedly the quickest one to achieve. If you’re looking to spice up this simple style you can add a fun colored scrunchie, a hair scarf or add a braid into your ponytail!

Hairstyle 3: Bun

Buns are an easy way to look effortlessly chic. To perfect this look, put your hair in a bun near the crown of your head. To make the bun more casual, gently pull on strands of hair around your face to take them out of the bun. For those with shorter hair, a half-up bun can achieve the same effect.

Hairstyle 4: Braids

Braids can require more effort than other hairstyles, but the results are worth the extra effort. With so many different types of braids, there’s a style for everyone. For beginners, the easiest style would be a single braid down the back. For those with more experience, french braided pigtails are a popular style amongst college students. A number of braid tutorials can be found online for those who need extra help.

Hairstyle 5: Top it Off

We all have those days where our hair has a mind of its own. For those difficult hair days, throw a hat on! Hats can be the single element needed to complete an outfit, and countless options are available. Most college students lean towards fun baseball caps, but wide-brimmed fedoras or newsboy caps are also stylish options.

Getting ready for class may be a struggle, but doing your hair doesn’t have to be. Try out these easy hairstyles, and find ways to make them fit your personal style. You’ll never have to worry about what to do with your hair before class ever again!
