5 Places to Find Cute but Comfy Clothes

It’s mid-autumn, and the frigid temperatures outside are forcing everyone to layer up. You’re standing in front of your closet after you’ve overslept, scrambling to find a hoodie without a stain on it. There are only ten minutes left until you’re officially going to be late – and you haven’t even had breakfast yet. All you want are stylish and cozy clothes while heading to your 8 a.m.! Look no further. Here are the five best places you can find loungewear that’ll keep you warm and stylish.
Pact
Pact is changing the game one sustainable garment at a time. Not only are their clothes made out of organic cotton, but they are also Fair Trade Factory certified. They offer many different styles, from basic tees and leggings to hoodies and sweaters. Pact constantly shows that essentials don’t have to be boring. A perfect example would be their Essential Long Sweatshirt, which has drawstrings placed on the bottom ribbing instead of on the hood as per usual.
Lazy One
Lazy One is a pajama brand that hones in on humor and comfort. Their classic designs are simple but come with an amusing twist, and you can even match with your dog! Lazy One offers pajama sets for everyone (including matching family sets) with a variety of styles. Tanks and shorts covered with adorably cliche phrases such as “Don’t Moose With Me” bring a nostalgic feel of childhood cartoon pajamas. While it may be tempting to wear these to class, they might be better suited to lounging around your dorm.
Cotton On
Cotton On is another famous essentials brand, known for making quality cotton pieces. On their U.S. website, they have a myriad of trendy styles that you could wear to class and be cozy in. Their Slim Fit Trackpant is priced at a modest $19.99 and has positive reviews. This design comes in a vast amount of styles such as camo, tie-dye, and heather, to name a few. Their hoodies, sweatshirts and sweaters such as the Fleece Pullover 2 and the Harper Boxy Crew Graphic Fleece have warm autumn colors. If trend is your number one priority, Cotton On is your best bet.
Project Social T
Project Social T has a vintage vibe with pieces that blend the hazy warmth of Urban Outfitters with the simple designs of Brandy Melville. While a bit on the pricier side, Project Social T showcases unique designs with flowy silhouettes. Their Silas Puff Long Sleeve has exaggerated cuffs, while their Mercy Lace Up Sweatshirt has laced cuffs. Overall, Project Social T’s minimal but individual designs are perfect for someone who wants to stand out, but not like a sore thumb.
Outdoor Voices (OV)
Outdoor Voices is an American-born brand established in 2013 that specializes in comfortable athletic wear. No one wants to sweat through their clothing, so OV has you covered when you make the trek to Eppley or around campus. A highlight the company has is making garments in multiple materials to accommodate for everyone’s needs.
The brand’s TechSweat™ material is “cool to the touch” and helps you stay dry, which OV says is beneficial during high-intensity workouts. MegaFleece and RecPoly are two of their more ethical options, with the latter being recycled from “post-consumer water bottles.” Whether you’re looking for more lightweight fabric to change into indoors or a heavier option, OV has what you need.
To hear more opinions, I talked to three students about where they get their go-to comfy clothes.
Caroline Dull, a freshman finance major, listed American Eagle as her go-to, along with hand-me-downs from her cousins.
“They [American Eagle] have this Soft & Sexy collection that I really like, and it’s all really soft. But I also saw a sustainable clothing presentation last week, and now feel guilty about this," Dull said.
Katie Reese, a freshman letters and sciences major, also named American Eagle as her primary clothing source.
“Target is really nice, or Kohl’s or Old Navy. It’s usually what is convenient, online or at the mall,” said Reese. “But more recently, since I’m in college I’ve been trying to just buy from thrift stores.”
Stacey Ternovskaia, a freshman physiology and neurobiology major said, “I get comfy clothing usually from TJ Maxx or Marshall’s ‘cause it’s cheap, and they have a lot of options. And they have really nice leggings for like ten [dollars] and under,” Ternovskaia said.
